New DWZ

Find yourself in the DSB list or enter your DWZ, the DWZ index and the first game, then the new DWZ appears here.

Number of previous evaluations — shown on your DSB profile after the DWZ (e.g. „1650-24“). Determines the K-factor.

Next game

Calculated by hand. Not included (per the rating regulations, WO): the special rating for opponents with a very strong tournament performance (WO 3.6) and the first DWZ for unrated opponents (WO 3.4).

How the DWZ calculator works

Your new DWZ is your old DWZ plus K times (points minus expected score). The expected score comes from the rating gap to each opponent; the K-factor from your DWZ, your index and your age.

Example: DWZ 1694, index 23, 4 games, 2½ points against 1.85 expected. With K 28 that gives 1712, so +18.

Why the official DWZ can differ

The DSB rates the tournament officially once it is over. If an opponent gets a performance rating or their first DWZ, your calculation changes too.

No DWZ yet?

The DSB calculates a first DWZ for all players of a tournament together. That cannot be done by hand here.
